Edyta Barańska

Edyta Barańska is a Polish artist and designer whose practice has been shaped by nearly twenty-five years of work with glass. Initially drawn to painting, she discovered art glass while studying at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, where Professor Zbigniew Horbowy introduced her to the expressive and technical possibilities of the medium.

Working primarily with fused glass, Barańska moves between autonomous art objects, sculpture, lighting and collectible design. Her early collections of vases, serving pieces and candlesticks received numerous distinctions, including the ELLE Decoration PRODECO award, while examples of her plates entered the permanent collection of the National Museum in Warsaw.

Under the Barańska Design name, she has expanded her artistic language into architectural scale, creating bespoke chandeliers, glass walls, furniture and site-specific installations for hotels, restaurants, private residences and public spaces. Her approach combines the singular character of handmade glass with function, craftsmanship and a close response to its spatial setting.

Her work has been presented internationally in Milan, London, New York and Dubai. Among the recognitions highlighted in her studio materials are the All on Design award for the Wave lamp, an award at the Surface Design Show in London for her glass tabletops, Milan Design Selection 2019 and an Archiproducts Design Award in 2020. Across both independent works and architectural commissions, Barańska continues to explore how glass can hold colour, light and movement while remaining part of everyday experience.
